The PROEM network attends the UIMP’s 17th ‘José Germain’ School of Psychology congress

Maite Garaigordobil, professor of Psychological Assessment and Diagnosis at the University of the Basque Country and PROEM network member, has participated in the 17th ‘José Germain’ School of Psychology congress. The event, organized by the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP) in Santander, addressed childhood psychological issues in this edition.

From 23 to 27 July, experts on the subject presented some of the most frequent problems in childhood development facing society today, such as school bullying, childhood obesity, language disorders, and growing up in difficult family environments. Particular attention was paid to their descriptive characteristics in order to facilitate early detection as well as to the most widely used methods in childhood psychology.

During a theoretical session and a more practical one, Maite Garaigordobil shared her research experiences on social-emotional development, cooperative play, and school bullying prevention.

The congress, which featured the collaboration of the Spanish Academy of Psychology, welcomed other specialists including Helio Carpintero, professor of Psychology at the Complutense University of Madrid and congress director; Víctor Acosta, professor of Special Education and Speech-Language Pathology at the University of La Laguna; José Ignacio Baile, lecturer of Psychology at the Madrid Open University; María Ángeles Cerezo, professor of Psychology at the University of Valencia; Victoria del Barrio, professor emeritus of Child Psychopathology at the UNED National Distance Education University; and Francisco Javier Urra, lecturer of Ethics and Deontology at the Cardenal Cisneros University College.
