The PROEM network presents its report to institutions attached to the Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Welfare

Last week members of the PROEM network, led by its chief agent Luis Joaquín García, visited the headquarters of the Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Welfare to present their report and roadmap on the state of the art, needs and recommendations for improving psychological assessment and promoting mental health and emotional well-being in young people to several departments.

Specifically, they held talks with the Directorate General of Public Health, Quality and Innovation, the Directorate General of Family and Childhood Services, the Technical Secretariat, the Sub-directorate General for the Promotion of Public Health and Epidemiology, as well as the Youth Institute that comes under the State Secretariat for Social Services.

They also handed the report in to the Spanish Children’s Rights Coalition (Plataforma de Infancia), an alliance that currently comprises 53 social organizations working in Spain to protect, promote and defend the rights of children and adolescents in accordance with the UN’s Convention on the Rights of the Child. Its foremost objectives are to raise society’s awareness of knowledge and respect for children’s rights; to build dialogue, collaboration and participation with public and private organizations for improving child welfare; to drive forward general and sectoral policies from the perspective of child welfare; and to report the violation of children’s rights.

The purpose of this visit was to continue disseminating the report drawn up by the interdisciplinary network – made up of researchers from eleven universities, user associations and groups – at both a national and international level. From this standpoint, Luis Joaquín García stated that “the level of satisfaction achieved through establishing this initial dialogue with Ministry representatives has been very positive, and we hope to be able to build shared synergies with the PROEM network that can lead to a joint collaboration for the benefit of mental health and young people”.
