Members and associate partners of the PROEM network meet to establish a work plan for the coming months

On 30 November in Madrid, under the umbrella of the PROEM network, a working meeting was held for the PROmotion of Mental Health and EMotional Well-being in Adolescents (PROEMA), led by University of Jaén researcher Luis Joaquín García.

Throughout the day, attendees took stock of the objectives met during the Red 2015 mission and addressed the priorities and work plan to achieve over the next few years. These actions include continuing to disseminate the report and road map on the mental health situation of young people (available for free download in Spanish, English and Catalan at www.redproem.es) as well as reporting and sharing the findings from network members not only with other researchers but also with policymakers, stakeholders, young people and their families, and organizations working in the field of mental health.

Furthermore, initiatives via PROEMA will seek to contribute towards coordinating the complex information-gathering process on the availability of screening protocols and evidence-based interventions in the field of emotional problems and towards successfully giving the network international reach.

Participating in the meeting were members from Andalusia, namely Juan Antonio Moriana from the University of Córdoba and José Antonio Muela, Lourdes Espinosa, Pere Castellví and Luis Joaquín García from the University of Jaén; members from Catalonia including Fina Casals of the Rovira i Virgili University; members of the Valencian Community such as José Antonio Piqueras from the Miguel Hernández University; members from the Region of Madrid, including Antonio Cano of the Complutense University; and members from the Basque Country, with Esther Calvete from the University of Deusto and Maite Garaigordobil from the University of the Basque Country in attendance. They were also joined by guest participants Enrique Vargas, President of the Spanish Association for Mutual Assistance against Social Phobia and Anxiety Disorders (AMTAES); Miguel Ángel Carrasco, researcher with the UNED; Manuel Gámez, researcher at the Autonomous University of Madrid; and Inmaculada Gómez, researcher with the University of Almería.

PROEMA is a network of excellence led by the University of Jaén with funding from the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (PSI2017-90650-REDT).
