Red interdisciplinar para la PROmoción de la salud y bienestar Emocional en las personas jóvenes

The PROEM Network presents the PROCARE project to representatives of the Territorial Delegation of Education in Córdoba.

The schools in Cordoba will learn about the PROCARE initiative through its Delegation, which aims to help adolescents at risk of suffering emotional problems free of charge.

11/03/2021.- The professor of the University of Jaén (UJA) and main responsible of the Network for the Promotion of Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing in Young People (PROEM), Luis Joaquín García López has presented the PROCARE initiative to representatives of the Territorial Delegation of Education in Córdoba.

The meeting, which was held telematically, was attended by the Coordinator of the Provincial Technical Team for Educational and Vocational Guidance of the Territorial Delegation of Education in Cordoba, Inmaculada Nieto; and the Head of Educational Management Service of the Territorial Delegation of Education in Cordoba, Sara Mª Delgado.

Luis Joaquín García has exposed the keys of the PROCARE initiative, the first free selective prevention program aimed at young people between 12 and 18 years at risk of suffering emotional problems in the current stage of psychosocial difficulties marked by the pandemic of COVID-19.

This is an initiative that is being carried out online at a national level and will last until the month of June. The PROCARE research team includes professionals from the Psychology Department of the UJA, the Rovira i Virgili University, the Miguel Hernández University of Elche and the University of Miami (USA). In addition, the Youth Institute (INJUVE) of the Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030, the Spanish Association of Mutual Help against Social Phobia and Anxiety Disorders (AMTAES), the Confederation of Organizations of Psychopedagogy and Guidance of Spain (COPOE) and the Youth group of the FELGTB are part of the External Advisory Council of the project.

For their part, from the Territorial Delegation of Education of Cordoba they have conveyed “the support of literacy in health and emotional well-being and the need to train health and education professionals in health and emotional well-being through mental health professionals”. At the same time, they have endorsed “the importance of selective and indicated prevention in the framework of emotional problems in childhood and adolescence”. Finally, from the Cordoba delegation, they have committed to the dissemination of Project PROCARE through its informative video in schools in the province, as well as to the study of the opening of new and future collaboration links between their institution and the PROEMA Network.
