15/12/2022.- The Asturian Association for the Attention and Care of Children (Asaci), a partner of the PROEM Network since 2018, has received the 15th José Lorca Award for the Promotion and Defense of Children’s Rights, granted by the Department of Social Rights and Welfare of the Principality of Asturias.
The Asturian government has awarded its program for the promotion of good treatment and prevention and intervention in the face of violence against children and adolescents. This program has trained a total of 6,662 minors and 3,219 professionals over nine years and has attended to 244 requests for guidance and counseling.
The jury valued Asaci’s work in sharing information and creating networks with institutions and for the ongoing training of its professionals through its role within the National Federation of Associations for the prevention of child abuse, as well as its pioneering commitment to the promotion of mental health and emotional wellbeing of adolescents through its joint efforts with the PROEM NETWORK. He also highlighted the role played by Asaci, since it began its activity 25 years ago, to bring to Asturias the most innovative experiences of other communities in the prevention and intervention against child abuse, especially those related to abuse and sexual violence.
Asaci has contributed to the dissemination of the different initiatives launched by the PROEM Network, especially in the participation of researchers from the University of Jaén (UJA), the University Miguel Hernández of Elche and the University Rovira i Virgili of Tarragona in the International Youth Meetings of Cabueñes held in Gijón in October 2021. In this important informative forum, the results obtained in the DAREMOS and PROCARE initiatives, focused on early detection and intervention on adolescents at risk of suffering emotional problems and which have helped young Asturians with anxiety and depression problems, as well as their families, were presented.
