19/01/2023.- Luis Joaquín García, Professor of Psychology at the University of Jaén (UJA) and head of initiatives for the promotion of emotional well-being in young people such as DAREMOS, PROCARE or PROADEMO, has recently joined the Research Network on Chronicity, Primary Care and Health Promotion (RICAPPS) as a researcher.

This Network is made up of 26 research groups and 9 associated clinical care groups, located in 12 Spanish autonomous communities. Specifically, the incorporation of Luis Joaquín García has been made through the research group in Mental Health, Services and Primary Care of Malaga (SAMSERAP), led by Juan Ángel Bellón, from the Institute of Biomedical Research of Malaga (IBIMA). His arrival was announced last December at the I Conference on Primary Care Research organized by IBIMA in collaboration with the University of Malaga (UMA), at the Faculty of Health Sciences.

RICAPPS, which is funded by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III, was created to promote networked research at the national level oriented towards health outcomes in primary care, chronicity and health promotion.

One of the priorities of the network is to promote collaborative work, knowledge transfer and the possibility of sharing experience, resources and information among the different groups. To this end, the groups will have the collaboration of professionals and specialists in primary care, prevention, public health, epidemiology, mathematics, statistics, economic evaluation, pharmacology, psychology, sociology, anthropology and other specialties. The idees ensure a high quality methodological approach, adapted to the context of primary care and adjusted to the dynamic challenges and advances that are emerging in the health system. This approach aims at a more comprehensive care that includes health promotion, improved prevention, diagnosis and treatment, and specialized care for chronic diseases.

In doing so, it aims to transfer the results to clinical practice and health service organizations, and thus ensure improved health care for the population. This purpose is aligned with the objectives of the Health, Demographic Change and Welfare Challenge of the Spanish Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation, and Horizon Europe of the European Union.
