ASACI Asturias joins the External Advisory Board of the PROADEMO initiative

The Asturian association, a partner of the PROEM Network since 2018, will add its expertise in the field of health and emotional well-being of adolescents.

08/02/2023.- The Asturian Association for the Attention and Care of Children (ASACI) joins the External Advisory Board of the initiative ‘PROmocionAnDo the health and EMOtional well-being of adolescents in the educational sector, health and society’ (PROADEMO).

Luis Joaquín García, professor at the University of Jaén (UJA) and main responsible for PROADEMO, met yesterday February 7 with Ana María Sainero, María Martínez and Noemí Lamas, technical team of ASACI Asturias, to assess the incorporation of the Asturian association to this project for the promotion of emotional wellbeing in young people.

Luis Joaquín García presented the keys to PROADEMO, which aims to develop a methodology that promotes the active participation of adolescents and social agents in the development of guidelines for national and European policies, as well as the drafting of documents in a child-friendly language.

“Los objetivos de PROADEMO giran en torno al diseño y desarrollo de un paquete de capacitación digital, dirigido a personal escolar, jóvenes y trabajadores de la salud, para que puedan mejorar sus habilidades y conocimientos para brindar servicios de salud mental a adolescentes en riesgo de desarrollar problemas emocionales como secuela de la pandemia”, profundizó Luis Joaquín García.

ASACI is a non-profit entity that works in the Principality of Asturias with the aim of promoting the health and emotional well-being of children and adolescents. Since 2018 it has been part of the Interdisciplinary Research Network for Psychological Evaluation and PROmotion of Mental Health and EMotional Wellbeing in Young People (PROEM) as a collaborating entity.

One of its priority lines of action is to promote development contexts capable of attending and caring for the emotional and mental health needs of children and adolescents from a comprehensive model of promoting good treatment. In this sense, ASACI Asturias will contribute with its experience in the field of child and adolescent mental health in its autonomous community.

In this way, ASACI Asturias joins PROADEMO’s External Advisory Council together with other institutions that have also confirmed their incorporation to it, such as the Youth Institute, attached to the Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030, the Confederation of Organizations of Psychopedagogy and Guidance of Spain (COPOE), the Spanish Association of Mutual Help against Social Phobia and Anxiety Disorders (AMTAES) and the Integral Health Group of the State Federation of Lesbians, Gays, Trans, Bisexuals, Intersexuals and more (FELGTBI+).

PROADEMO, led by UJA, is a project (PDC2022-133401-I00/AEI/10.13039/501100011033) funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, the State Research Agency and the European Union, through the “Next Generation EU” funds within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
