In their telematic meeting, Luis Joaquín García showed him the results of this project that has provided free emotional help to more than 1,500 adolescents with emotional problems during the pandemic and post-pandemic stage.

The UJA professor indicated the follow-up of PROCARE, the first selective prevention program aimed at young people between 12 and 18 years of age at risk of suffering emotional problems in a stage conditioned by psychosocial difficulties after COVID-19. “The results of the intervention and the booster session carried out indicate the reduction of emotional problems, improvement in subjective quality of life and greater regulation of emotions among the young participants, and among their families, even 12 months after the intervention,” said Luis Joaquín García.

For her part, Silvia Valmaña conveyed the interest of the Directorate General of Childhood, Family and Birth Promotion of the Community of Madrid “in finding ways to implement PROCARE among adolescents in Madrid” and in “exploring ways of collaboration to help the young population of the Community at risk of suffering emotional problems”.

PROCARE is a national project in which professionals from the Psychology Department of the UJA, the Rovira i Virgili University, the Miguel Hernández University of Elche and the University of Miami (USA) participate.

Institutions such as the Spanish Youth Institute (INJUVE), the Spanish Association for Mutual Help against Social Phobia and Anxiety Disorders (AMTAES), the Spanish Confederation of Organizations of Psychopedagogy and Guidance (COPOE), the Youth group of the State Federation of Lesbians, Gays, Trans, Bisexuals, Intersexuals and more (FELGTBI+) and the Spanish Youth Council (CJE) are part of its External Advisory Council.
