The Federación Estatal de Lesbianas, Gais, Trans, Bisexuales, Intersexuales y Más joins the External Advisory Board of the PROADEMO initiative.

As in the DAREMOS and PROCARE projects, the FELGTBI+ Integral Health group will continue its collaboration with the University of Jaén and the PROEM Network.

17/07/2023.- The Federación Estatal de Lesbianas, Gais, Trans, Bisexuales, Intersexuales y Más (FELGTBI+) joins the External Advisory Board of the initiative ‘PROmocionAnDo la salud y el bienestar EMOcional de los adolescentes en el sector educativo, sanitario y la sociedad’ (PROADEMO).

FELGTBI+ has been a partner of the PROEM Network since its launch in 2018. Previously through its Youth group and currently, through the work of the Comprehensive Health group. Their role will be to contribute the perspective of the LGTBI+ collective, just as they did previously as members of the External Advisory Council of the DAREMOS and PROCARE initiatives, two initiatives that are also focused on promoting health and emotional well-being in young people under the leadership of the professor of the University of Jaén (UJA), Luis Joaquín García.

The first collaboration was the virtual participation of Toni Martí, coordinator of the Integral Health Group of FELGTBI+, in the conference “Interdisciplinary initiatives for the promotion of health and emotional well-being of young people”, organized by the UJA and the PROEM Network in Malaga, which served as the launching meeting of PROADEMO. In his speech, Toni Martí reflected on the importance of prevention and promotion of mental health within the LGTBI+ collective.

PROADEMO aims to develop a methodology that promotes the active participation of adolescents and social agents in the development of guidelines for national and European policies, as well as the drafting of documents in child-friendly language.

The objectives of this initiative revolve around the design and development of a digital training package, aimed at school personnel, health personnel, health workers and young people themselves, so that they can improve their skills and knowledge to provide mental health services to adolescents at risk of developing emotional problems as a consequence of the pandemic.

In that sense, the FELGTBI+ Comprehensive Health group joins other institutions that have also confirmed their incorporation to PROADEMO’s External Advisory Council, such as the Spanish Youth Institute (INJUVE), attached to the Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030, the Spanish Youth Council (CJE), the European Youth Information and Counselling Agency (ERYICA), the Princess of Girona Foundation (FPdGi), the Confederation of Organizations of Psychopedagogy and Guidance of Spain (COPOE), the Spanish Association of Mutual Help against Social Phobia and Anxiety Disorders (Amtaes), the Andalusian Association of Youth Technicians (AATJ) or the Asturian Association for the attention and care of children (Asaci).

PROADEMO is a project (PDC2022-133401-I00/AEI/10.13039/501100011033) funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, the State Research Agency and the European Union, through the “Next Generation EU” funds within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
