13/11/2023.- The Participe+ Network organizes this Wednesday, November 15, a training day on health and emotional well-being of young people in the town of Puente Genil (Córdoba), which will include the participation as speakers of researchers from the University of Jaén (UJA), under the umbrella of the Network of Excellence PROEMO (Network for the Promotion of Health and Emotional Well-being of Young People (RED2022-134247-T)).

The Participe+ Network is made up of nine municipalities in the provinces of Jaén (Marmolejo, Baeza and Martos), Seville (Castilleja de Guzmán, Bollullos de la Mitación and Gines) and Córdoba (Puente Genil, Palma del Río and Cabra). It is a network focused on youth participation that aims to promote the personal and social development of young people for their empowerment and inclusion in training and the labor market.

The Casa Ciudadana of Puente Genil will host this free training day in which several researchers from the UJA will take part to share the keys of initiatives to promote health and emotional well-being of young people as PROCARE, PROADEMO, Digitas or Level Up.

The conference is aimed at political representatives, youth technical staff and professionals in the field of education and health, who are usually in direct contact with adolescents. Registration can be made through this link and is open until Tuesday, November 14.

The day’s schedule will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the institutional inauguration. This will be followed by the presentation of PROCARE (Selective prevention through a transdiagnostic intervention for adolescents at risk of emotional problems), a pioneering initiative worldwide in the field of prevention and personalized medicine, since it is the first selective prevention program aimed at adolescents between 12 and 18 years of age at risk of suffering emotional problems. This program is already being implemented among the young people of Marmolejo with the aim of contributing to the improvement of their mental health.

At the same time, the attendees will be informed about the latest developments in the project ‘PROmocionAnDo health and EMOtional well-being of adolescents in the education sector, health and society’ (PROADEMO) and PROEMO, which aim to develop materials and a roadmap for 2025 to improve prevention and early intervention of emotional problems that young people suffer or are at risk of suffering.

From 12:00 pm, two projects related to the creation of resources for professionals will be presented: on the one hand, Digitas, which addresses literacy in adolescent mental health, through the creation of videos, podcasts or sound fiction documentaries, among other tools; and on the other, Level Up (Setting the ground for a multi-level approach on developing soft skills in Higher Education), a project led by a European consortium that aims to provide a new understanding of the transversal skills of students in higher education.

Finally, at 13:00 hours, a networking session will be held between the attendees and the research team of the UJA and the PROEMO network to share experiences related to the current situation of young people and how to improve prevention around the emotional problems to which they are exposed.
