2/26/2024.- Researchers from the Department of Psychology of the University of Jaén (UJA) have registered the replication guide of the PROCARE initiative (Selective prevention through a transdiagnostic intervention for adolescents at risk of emotional problems) through the platform Safe Creative. In this way, the work team led by the UJA professor and main person responsible for PROCARE, Luis Joaquín García, together with the researchers José Antonio Muela, Lourdes Espinosa, David Jiménez, Manuel Vivas and Pilar Martínez, has carried out the protection of exploitation rights of this document that explains the procedure of the PROCARE initiative.
Specifically, this guide develops all the material provided to participants related to the contents taught during the sessions that included the general module and the additional modules (Three modules for adolescents: social rejection and victimization by peers; stress related with COVID-19 and healthy habits; and a module for parents: communication skills between parents and children with a particular emphasis on reducing levels of expressed emotion by parents), which included PowerPoint presentations, exercises and activities, as well as audios and videos to be discussed.
PROCARE is the first international transdiagnostic selective prevention program aimed at young people between 12 and 18 years old at risk of suffering emotional problems. An initiative that in 2021 helped more than 1,500 adolescents from all over Spain, in 2023 contributed to improving the emotional health of more than a thousand young people in the Balearic Islands and is currently being implemented in the Jaén municipality of Marmolejo.
PROCARE is an R&D&i project PID 2019-111138RB-I00 funded by MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 (Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and the State Research Agency), which has the participation of professionals from the Department of Psychology from the UJA, from the Rovira i Virgili University, from the Miguel Hernández University of Elche and from the University of Miami (USA).
In addition, it has an External Advisory Council made up of the Youth Institute (INJUVE), attached to the Ministry of Youth and Children, the Spanish Association for Mutual Aid against Social Phobia and Anxiety Disorders (AMTAES), the Confederation of Psychopedagogy Organizations and Orientation of Spain (COPOE), the Youth group of the State Federation of Lesbians, Gays, Trans, Bisexuals, Intersex and more (FELGTBI+), the Youth Council of Spain (CJE) and the Princess of Girona Foundation.
