29/4/2024.- Researchers from the Psychology Department of the University of Jaén (UJA) and the PROEMO Network, José Antonio Muela, Luis Joaquín García López and Lourdes Espinosa participated in the XXXVII Congress of the National Association of Education Inspectors (ANIE), held on April 25 and 26 at the Picasso Museum in Málaga.

The event was entitled “The Educational Inspection before the emotional difficulties of students”, and addressed the role of emotional well-being in the educational field in the voice of several experts. Specifically, the UJA team developed before the audience different interdisciplinary initiatives for the promotion of health and emotional well-being of young people, which are under the umbrella of the PROEMO Network, such as PROCARE, PROADEMO, DIGITAS, DAREMOS or Level Up.

The UJA researchers delved into the keys of PROCARE (‘Selective prevention through a transdiagnostic intervention for adolescents at risk of emotional problems’), a pioneering initiative worldwide in the field of prevention and personalized medicine aimed at adolescents between 12 and 18 years of age at risk of suffering emotional problems. It is currently being implemented in the town of Marmolejo in Jaén and in other parts of the province of Jaén, after a previous experience at national level and in the Balearic Islands.

They also explained the DIGITAS project, which seeks to promote literacy in adolescent mental health through the creation of videos, podcasts and documentaries, among other tools. Among its objectives is the dissemination of available knowledge through different audiovisual resources and the implementation of this knowledge in order to improve behavior and reduce stigmas.

They also stressed the objectives of the PROADEMO project (‘PROmocionAnDo la salud y el bienestar EMOcional de los adolescentes en el sector educativo, sanitario y la sociedad’), based on the creation of useful materials and tools for educational, health and youth information personnel, as well as for the adolescents themselves, with the aim of improving the quality of the services offered in the field of adolescent emotional wellbeing and increasing emotional literacy.

Finally, they emphasized the impact of Level Up, led by a European consortium that aims to provide a new understanding of the transversal skills of higher education students.

ANIE is an association with a history of more than 40 years, which has forged a path in defense of the inspection and the group of inspectors. This Congress is part of its training activities, which aim to provide added value to its members in their professional development.

Along with the participation of the PROEMO Network team, the Congress program included the participation of several experts in the field of mental health and emotional well-being of adolescents and young people. José Antonio Vázquez Taín spoke about cyberspace and how to turn a lawless territory into another tool of the educational system; José Antonio Luengo, director of the Socioemotional Care team in Madrid, spoke about mental health in childhood and adolescence as a challenge for the educational system; Jorge Vidal de la Fuente, child and adolescent psychiatrist and coordinator of the mental health and education liaison program, spoke on child and adolescent mental health; and there was also a round table on technology in schools in autonomous communities such as Andalusia, Madrid, Galicia and La Rioja.
