Red interdisciplinar para la PROmoción de la salud y bienestar Emocional en las personas jóvenes

The research team and the External Advisory Board of the PROCARE initiative hold a working meeting in Málaga

Researchers from the University of Jaén, Universitat Rovira i Virgili and Miguel Hernández University shared with the collaborating entities the progress of this project to promote the health and emotional wellbeing of adolescents.

21/5/2024.- The research team of the PROCARE initiative (Selective Prevention through Transdiagnostic Intervention for Adolescents at Risk of Emotional Problems) and its External Advisory Board held a working meeting in the city of Malaga.

The research team was represented by researchers from the University of Jaén (UJA), Luis Joaquín García, José Antonio Muela, Lourdes Espinosa, David Jiménez and Manuel Vivas; Josefa Canals, a researcher at the Rovira i Virgili University (URV); and José Antonio Piqueras, a researcher at the Miguel Hernández University.

On behalf of the External Advisory Council (CAE) of this initiative, the following were present: the Head of the Interministerial Programs Service of the Spanish Youth Institute (INJUVE), Victoria Rodríguez; the 2nd vice-president and responsible for the socioeconomic and communication areas of the Spanish Youth Council, Juan Antonio Báez; the head of Integral Health of the FELGTBI+, Toni Martí; the president of the Confederation of Organizations of Psychopedagogy and Guidance of Spain (COPOE), Ana Cobos; the vice president of the Andalusian Association of Youth Professionals, Antonio Lara; and the president of the Spanish Association of Mutual Help against Social Phobia and Anxiety Disorders (AMTAES), Enrique Vargas.

PROCARE is the first transdiagnostic program of selective prevention at international level aimed at young people between 12 and 18 years of age at risk of suffering emotional problems. An initiative that in 2021 helped more than 1,500 adolescents throughout Spain, in 2023 contributed to improve the emotional health of more than a thousand young people in the Balearic Islands; and currently implemented in the Jaén municipality of Marmolejo and other parts of the province of Jaén thanks to funding from the Provincial Council of Jaén.

PROCARE is an R+D+i project PID 2019-111138RB-I00 funded by MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 (Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and the State Research Agency), with the participation of professionals from the Department of Psychology of the UJA, the University Rovira i Virgili, the University Miguel Hernández and the University of Miami (USA).
