06/10/2024.- Researchers from the Network for the Promotion of the EMOtional health and well-being of adolescents (PROEMO), led by the University of Jaén, and members of its External Advisory Council will participate in the process of preparing the future Youth Law, contributing their experience and knowledge in the field of mental health and emotional well-being of young people.

Margarita Guerrero, General Director of the Spanish Youth Institute (INJUVE), attached to the Ministry of Youth and Children, conveyed this invitation to you within the framework of the knowledge transfer day on health and emotional well-being of young people, organized by the PROEMO Network itself at the La Térmica Cultural Center in Málaga on May 22.

An informative event whose inauguration was chaired by the Secretary of State for Youth and Children, Rubén Pérez. Subsequently, Margarita Guerrero was in charge of the closing and in her speech she indicated INJUVE’s desire that the PROEMO Network team “be present in the construction of this Law. The challenge is to be able to influence the sectors that are traditionally They remain on the margins and it is important that their voices are within so that it is a useful law for all people.”
Likewise, the General Director of INJUVE stressed “the importance of working in a priority area for youth such as mental health based on scientific evidence, because mental health matters and has to be addressed.” In addition, he pointed out the relevance of the work of the PROEMO Network for its “multidisciplinary approach, which collects experiences from across the national territory on an emerging and central issue such as the emotional well-being of adolescents.”

The mutual collaborative work between INJUVE and the PROEMO Network began in 2018, with the integration of the state entity in the External Advisory Council of the PROEM Network and of projects led by it such as DAREMOS, PROCARE, PROADEMO and, more recently, the new Network PROEMO.

The PROEMO Network is a research network (RED2022-134247-T) funded by MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 (Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and the State Research Agency) through the State Program to promote scientific research. technique and its transfer, within the framework of the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2021-2023. It is made up of researchers from different public and private universities nationwide, specifically from the University of Jaén, the Rovira i Virgili University, the Miguel Hernández University, the University of Almería, the Autonomous University of Madrid, the University of Málaga and the University of Deusto.

In its External Advisory Council, in addition to the presence of INJUVE, it has the collaboration of the Spanish Youth Council (CJE); the European Agency for Youth Information and Advice (ERYICA); the Princess of Girona Foundation, the FELGTBI+ Comprehensive Health group; the Confederation of Psychopedagogy and Guidance Organizations of Spain (COPOE); the Spanish Association for Mutual Aid against Social Phobia and Anxiety Disorders (AMTAES); the Andalusian Association of Youth Professionals; and the Asturian Association for the Care and Care of Children (ASACI).
