Testimonial PROCARE: A key tool for family wellness

Bartolomé Romero G., parent participant in the PROCARE program.

Hello, I am one of the parents who has had the opportunity to participate in the PROCARE program, a project promoted by the City Council of Marmolejo and developed in collaboration with the University of Jaén.

I found out about the initiative thanks to Antonio Lara, Youth Technician, and later we received more information through my daughter’s high school. Since I heard about this program, I had no doubts that it would be a useful experience, but after having been part of it, I can say that it has exceeded my expectations.

An opportunity to learn emotions

Adolescence is a time full of challenges, both for young people and for parents. Dealing with the emotional and social difficulties of this stage sometimes becomes overwhelming, and many parents feel lost on how to best help. Participating in PROCARE has been an opportunity to learn, share and improve the relationship with my daughter, and best of all, we have done it from home, dedicating only an hour and a half a week.

Professionalism and proximity in the sessions

One of the most outstanding aspects of the program is the closeness and professionalism of the speakers. They have been authentic companions of the group, making each session feel natural and comfortable. Their way of explaining, the use of practical examples and the possibility of intervening at any time have made each meeting a rewarding experience. What initially could have seemed like just another class, became a space for dialogue and mutual learning, where we were all able to express our doubts and concerns.

Improving our Communication

The material provided, the topics covered and the professional guidance we received have helped us enormously in dealing with everyday situations. Both my daughter and I have learned to put ourselves in the other’s shoes, which has improved our communication and understanding. This ability to empathize and see things from the other person’s perspective has been, without a doubt, one of the greatest achievements of my participation in PROCARE.

If you have the opportunity to participate, don’t hesitate

I am deeply grateful to the Marmolejo City Council for offering this valuable initiative. At a time when the emotional well-being of our youth is more important than ever, this program has not only benefited us as parents, but has also made a difference in the lives of our children.

My recommendation is clear: if you have the opportunity to participate, don’t hesitate. What you will get out of this experience will benefit the whole family.

Thanks to all who have made this possible!
