DIGITAS, PROCARE and PROADEMO, protagonists in the IX Conference for professionals in childhood and adolescence in Úbeda

UJA and PROEMO Network researchers Lourdes Espinosa and David Jiménez presented these projects at a conference on emotional well-being in children and adolescents.

20/11/2024.- Researchers from the University of Jaén (UJA) and the PROEMO Network presented the initiatives DIGITAS, PROCARE and PROADEMO in the IX Conference for professionals of childhood and adolescence of Úbeda, organized on Wednesday by the Social Welfare Area of the City Council of Úbeda, in collaboration with the Andalusian Government and the Provincial Association of Alleged and People with Own Experience in Mental Illness of Jaén (FEAFES-APAEM) in the cultural center Hospital de Santiago.

In this edition, the training and informative sessions were entitled “Emotional wellbeing in children and adolescents: from crisis to opportunity” and included several presentations that addressed different perspectives, strategies, proposals and projects related to the field of child and adolescent mental health in Andalusia.

Specifically, UJA researchers Lourdes Espinosa and David Jimenez participated with the presentation “Sharing experiences on health and emotional well-being with adolescents and young people in the voice of their protagonists” to expose the keys of the DIGITAS, PROCARE and PROADEMO projects.

Both researchers discussed the DIGITAS project, an online knowledge transfer tool. Its main objective is to offer evidence-based resources and tools to help adolescents and contribute to their emotional literacy.

It is a project financed by the State Research Agency (Ministry of Science and Innovation) and the European Union with “NextGenerationEU” funds, which includes podcasts, videos, documentaries, sound fiction, online guides and all kinds of audiovisual resources and content.

They also discussed the guidelines of the PROCARE initiative (Selective Prevention through Transdiagnostic Intervention for Adolescents at Risk of Emotional Problems). This is the first transdiagnostic program of selective and indicated prevention at international level aimed at young people between 12 and 18 years of age at risk of suffering emotional problems.

PROCARE is an R+D+i project PID 2019-111138RB-I00 funded by MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 (Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and the State Research Agency), with the participation of professionals from the Department of Psychology at UJA, Rovira i Virgili University, Miguel Hernández University and the University of Miami (USA).

It is currently being implemented in the province of Cordoba and in the municipality of Marmolejo in Jaen, thanks to the financial support of the Provincial Council of Cordoba, the City Council of Marmolejo and the Provincial Council of Jaen.

Finally, they presented the materials launched through the PROADEMO project (‘PROmocionAnDo la salud y el bienestar EMOcional de los adolescentes en el sector educativo, sanitario y la sociedad’), in which an interdisciplinary team of the UJA has developed a set of practical tools for the emotional support of adolescents, aimed at educational, health and youth professionals, as well as young people themselves.

The PROADEMO materials consist of a three-session emotional training guide for professionals; a 22-chapter practical tools guide complemented by a triage tool to classify the seriousness and urgency of the most frequent incidents they may face in their interaction with young people; and a series of informative videos aimed at adolescents themselves to promote their resilience and increase their emotional literacy. They are free and downloadable through the PROADEMO initiative website.

In the elaboration and edition of this kit, the PROADEMO project has counted with the collaboration and support of an External Advisory Council composed of nine entities: the Spanish Youth Institute (INJUVE), attached to the Ministry of Youth and Children, the Spanish Youth Council (CJE), the European Youth Information and Counselling Agency (ERYICA), the Princess of Girona Foundation (FPdGi), the Integral Health group of the FELGTBI+, the Asociación Española de Ayuda Mutua contra Fobia Social y Trastornos de Ansiedad (AMTAES), the Confederación de Organizaciones de Psicopedagogía y Orientación de España (COPOE), the Asociación Andaluza de Técnicos de la Juventud (AATJ) and the Asociación Asturiana para la atención y el cuidado de la infancia (ASACI).

PROADEMO is a project PDC2022-133401-I00 funded by MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 (Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, the State Research Agency and the European Union through the “Next Generation EU” funds within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan).

Both PROCARE and PROADEMO are part of the PROEMO Network, a research network RED2022-134247-T) funded by MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 (Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and the State Research Agency) through the State Program to promote scientific-technical research and its transfer, within the framework of the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2021-2023.
