PROCORE JAÉN (FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AGED 18 TO 29)

PROCORE - JAÉN INITIATIVE

The University of Jaén, in collaboration with the Provincial Council of Jaén, is launching the implementation of the PROCORE PROTOCOL FOR EARLY DETECTION AND INTERVENTION FOR THE PROMOTION OF HEALTH AND EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE PROVINCE OF JAÉN.

The objectives of this initiative are:

1) To enable young people between the ages of 18 and 29 in the province of Jaén to understand their emotional state and detect cases where there is a risk of developing emotional problems through the PROCORE assessment.

2) If a young person is found to be at emotional risk, they are offered the opportunity to participate in the PROCORE PREVENTIVE WORKSHOP, free of charge and online.

The sessions take place once a week and last for one hour (in a group format and via live videoconferencing).

Each session will provide training on tools and strategies for managing emotions, thoughts and behaviours in a healthier way. Through a practical and evidence-based approach, the aim is to enable young people to develop skills to cope with challenging everyday situations.

In summary, the implementation of the PROCORE initiative aims to evaluate and provide psychological strategies to improve the health and emotional well-being of young people.

The PROCORE initiative in the province of Jaén has been promoted by the president of the Provincial Council of Jaén, Francisco Reyes, its first vice-president, Francisca Medina, and the Deputy for Equality and Youth, Mª Dolores Ruiz, thanks to funding from the Provincial Council of Jaén itself, within the framework of its Jaenícolas brand.

It is also promoted by Luis Joaquín García, professor at the University of Jaén (UJA), director of the PROMOBIENESTAR University Chair, Promotion of Health and Emotional Well-being of Adolescents and Young People, as well as head of the HUM-836 Psychological Assessment and Treatment Research Group and the PROEMO network of excellence.

STAGES OF THE INICIATIVE

STAGE 1. CONDUCTING THE PROCORE ASSESSMENT/SURVEY

The assessment is conducted online. Young people (aged 18 to 29) who wish to participate should access the following link or scan the QR code.

At this link, participants will complete a series of questions about their emotional state and other aspects that could affect their wellbeing.

The main objective at this stage is to determine whether the young person is emotionally healthy, at moderate or high risk of developing an emotional problem, or whether they may already be experiencing difficulties compatible with a possible emotional problem.

All participants will receive information about their emotional health and well-being free of charge, as this stage serves as an emotional check-up.

STAGE 2. PARTICIPATION IN THE PROCORE PREVENTIVE WORKSHOP

Young people who show signs of risk (moderate or high) will be offered the opportunity to participate in an emotional strengthening workshop, which will enable them to deal with difficult everyday situations in a healthier way and boost their resilience in the face of present and future adversities.

The PROCORE programme consists of eight group sessions lasting approximately one hour (via Google Meet), plus a total of five additional modules tailored to address any risk factors that may be detected. These additional modules will only be offered to those who specifically present the risk factor in question and are aimed at:

  • Additional module 1. Healthy lifestyle habits (diet, exercise and sleep).
  • Additional module 2. Adjusting expectations and adversities (developing resilience in the face of challenges).
  • Additional module 3. Social skills and assertiveness (effective communication and setting boundaries).
  • Additional module 4. Discrimination and support (strategies for dealing with situations of exclusion).
  • Additional module 5. Social networks and their effect (impact on emotional health and conscious use).

STAGE 3. FOLLOW-UP AND REINFORCEMENT AT 6 MONTHS

Six months after completing the preventive workshop, participants will be able to attend a refresher session that will allow them to consolidate the benefits acquired and evaluate the progress made on an emotional level.
