Deusto Stress Research

The Deusto Stress Research (DSR) research team is part of the Department of Personality, Assessment and Psychological Treatment of the University of Deusto (Bilbao). At DSR we approach the study of various psychological problems from the perspective of vulnerability and resilience factors to stress. Some of the topics we research include family violence, cyberbullying and depression. The role of mindfulness is the focus of numerous research projects.

LINES OF RESEARCH

  • Mindfulness and Psychological Adjustment: We study the role of the various facets of the mindfulness trait as protective factors against various types of stress.
  • Family Violence: We address various forms of family violence such as child abuse, violence against women and child-parent violence. In our studies we address issues such as the intergenerational transmission of violence and the mediating mechanisms (cognitive and emotional variables) through which exposure to violence produces negative consequences.
  • Cyberbullying: we evaluate vulnerability and resilience factors for the chronicity of aggressive online behaviors, both between peers and in couple relationships.
