DAREMOS (Detection of Adolescents at high risk of EMOtional problems: exploring the role of epigenetics and language for prevention indicated in mental health) is an initiative launched by the University of Jaén (UJA) and the Biomedical Research Institute of Malaga (IBIMA) – BIONAND Platform, with the collaboration of Yotta, spin off of the UJA.

This is a pioneering project worldwide due to its interdisciplinary nature (it brings together professionals from the fields of Psychology, Epigenetics, Corpus Linguistics and Big Data).

Its objective is to improve the early detection of adolescents at high risk of developing emotional problems such as anxiety or depression. For this purpose, not only psychosocial aspects are considered, but also the role of the language used by adolescents is taken into account thanks to the work done from Corpus Linguistics and Computer Science, as well as the role of DNA methylation through Epigenetics.

The implementation of DAREMOS has made it possible to help, free of charge, more than 400 schoolchildren throughout Spain at risk of suffering emotional problems and their families, and to promote the early identification of these difficulties.
