The head of the PROEM Network, Luis Joaquín García, and the Internal Coordinator and health spokesperson of the Spanish Youth Council, Ricardo Blázquez Fernández, met so that both entities can work together.
In the meeting between the two, Luis Joaquín García explained the keys to the PROCARE project, an initiative that aims to provide emotional support to adolescents with emotional problems at this stage of the pandemic. In this way, they agreed on the incorporation of the CJE as part of the External Advisory Council of PROCARE, which includes other entities such as INJUVE, AMTAES, COPOE or FELGTB.
They also addressed issues related to the importance of advancing in the prevention (universal, selective and indicated) of emotional problems in young people, addressing risk factors and enhancing resilience in the face of stressors.
At the same time, they discussed in depth research on the causal role of belonging to a social class and the impact on mental health, among other multi-causal factors.
The CJE is an autonomous body, attached to the Ministry of Social Rights, in which youth organizations from all over Spain and autonomous Youth Councils are represented. Its objectives are to promote youth participation and associationism, to represent Spanish youth and to convey the proposals and concerns of young people to the public authorities and public opinion.
“Taking stock of our meeting, both for the PROEM Network and for the CJE it is crucial to invest in promoting the health and emotional well-being of young people, to promote the specialty of child and adolescent psychology, and to ensure that young people have the right to decent physical and mental health,” says Luis Joaquín García.
