The Princess of Girona Foundation joins the External Advisory Board of the ‘PROCARE’ initiative

Joins INJUVE, CJE, COPOE, AMTAES and the FELGTBI+ Youth Group, after the meeting between its Director of Strategy and Innovation, Esteban Redolfi, and the Professor of Psychology at the University of Jaén (UJA), Luis Joaquín García.

29/06/2023.- The Princess of Girona Foundation (FPdGi) joins the External Advisory Board of the initiative ‘Selective prevention through a transdiagnostic intervention for adolescents at risk of emotional problems’ (PROCARE).

Luis Joaquín García, professor at the University of Jaén (UJA) and main responsible for PROCARE, met with the Director of Strategy and Innovation of the FPdGi, Esteban Redolfi, to assess the incorporation of this institution to the External Advisory Board of this program for the promotion of health and emotional well-being as well as the prevention of emotional problems in adolescents.

In his meeting, Luis Joaquín García delved into the keys of the first transdiagnostic initiative of selective prevention at international level that has demonstrated its efficacy in the intervention of adolescents at risk (PROCARE+) and at high risk (PROCARE-I) of developing emotional problems such as anxiety or depression.

Specifically, Luis Joaquín García specified the results obtained through its implementation, which show a reduction in the emotional distress of the adolescent, a decrease in the risk of developing a future emotional problem, and an increase in quality of life, resilience, emotional strength and the ability to manage intense emotions.

For his part, Esteban Redolfi explained the work of “helping young people that is carried out at the Princess of Girona Foundation through the free programs and activities offered to improve the employability of young people, and in turn, work with the new generation of teachers to revolutionize education”. In turn, in line with the motto of the FPdGi, “Always for Young People”, he showed his interest in the work done by the PROEM Network and UJA researchers in promoting the emotional health and well-being of adolescents through PROCARE and other projects such as DAREMOS, PROADEMO, DIGITAS or PRECOM.

The Princess of Girona Foundation was born a decade ago with the determination to be a help in all critical aspects of youth development and to become a support to overcome the barriers that young people encounter in their incorporation into society. Since that date, the FPdGi has been characterized by contributing to the education and training of young people in their search for the job for which they have prepared themselves, and rewarding the most outstanding to form a community of talent that dialogues with other generations.

PROCARE is a project funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, and launched by the UJA, together with the Universitat Rovira i Virgili and the Universidad Miguel Hernández, with the collaboration of the University of Miami (USA). It is currently being implemented in the Balearic Islands, with the participation of more than 1,300 adolescents and their families, thanks to the agreement signed by the UJA and the Conselleria d’ Educació i Formació Professional de las Islas Baleares.

Following the agreement reached, Esteban Redolfi confirmed the integration of the Princess of Girona Foundation as a new member of PROADEMO’s External Advisory Council. This institution joins other entities that are already part of PROCARE such as the Spanish Youth Institute (INJUVE), attached to the Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030, the Spanish Youth Council (CJE), the Spanish Association of Mutual Help against Social Phobia and Anxiety Disorders (AMTAES), the Confederation of Organizations of Psychopedagogy and Guidance of Spain (COPOE) and the Youth group of the FELGTBI+.
