24/10/2023.- The Network of Excellence for the PROmotion of adolescent health and EMOtional well-being (PROEMO) features in several articles in the October issue of the digital youth magazine Participe+, dedicated to the mental health of young people.

The digital youth magazine Participe+ is an initiative of the Participe Plus Network, which brings together the municipal youth delegations of Marmolejo and Baeza (Jaén), Cabra, Palma del Río and Puente Genil (Córdoba), Bollullos de la Mitación, Castilleja de Guzmán, Gines and Tocina-Los Rosales (Seville). It is an online publication, published monthly, which addresses in each of its editions various topics of interest to young people.

Specifically, in this monographic issue on child and adolescent mental health, Luis Joaquín García, Professor of Psychology at the University of Jaén (UJA), writes an article entitled “Health and emotional well-being, a human right of all young people”. In it, he exposes the benefits brought to society by the projects for the promotion of emotional well-being in adolescents led by the UJA such as DAREMOS, PROCARE or PROADEMO, now under the umbrella of the PROEMO Network, being the objective of this network to develop a new roadmap for 2025 for the improvement of prevention and early intervention of emotional problems suffered or at risk of suffering by young people.

In turn, Lourdes Espinosa, José Antonio Muela, Juan Pablo Molina and Luis Joaquín García himself present Digitas, a UJA project that aims to become a literacy resource in adolescent mental health, through the creation of videos, podcasts or sound fiction documentaries, among other tools.

And finally, Patricia Moreno, researcher at the University of Malaga and IBIMA-Plataforma Bionand and member of the PROEMO network, explains the PrevANS project, an app that helps to prevent anxiety, which consists of a personalized prevention program according to the level of risk of each user to suffer anxiety in the next year.

PROEMO is a consortium with the participation of the University of Jaén, the University Rovira i Virgili, the University Miguel Hernández, the Autonomous University of Madrid, the University of Deusto, the University of Almería, the University of Málaga and the Biomedical Research Institute of Málaga (IBIMA) – Bionand Platform. It also has an External Advisory Board made up of nine governmental, non-governmental and third sector entities at European, national and regional level: the European Youth Information and Counselling Agency (ERYICA), the Spanish Youth Institute (INJUVE), attached to the Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030, the Spanish Youth Council (CJE), the Princess of Girona Foundation (FPdGi), the Integral Health group of the FELGTBI+, the Confederación de Organizaciones de Psicopedagogía y Orientación de España (COPOE), the Asociación Española de Ayuda Mutua contra Fobia Social y Trastornos de Ansiedad (Amtaes), the Asociación Andaluza de Técnicos de Juventud (AATJ) and the Asociación Asturiana para la atención y el cuidado de la infancia (Asaci).

The PROEMO Network of Excellence (RED2022-134247-T), which was launched on June 1 and will run for the next two years, is funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation and the State Research Agency (MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033) through the State Program to promote scientific and technical research and its transfer, within the framework of the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2021-2023.
