13/12/2023.- The Institut per a la Convivència i l’Èxit Escolar (Convivèxit), integrated in the Conselleria d’Educació i Universitats of the Balearic Government, participates in the second phase of the elaboration of the materials of the project ‘PROmocionAnDo la salud y el bienestar EMOcional de los adolescentes en el sector educativo, sanitario y la sociedad’ (PROADEMO) and the roadmap as one of the objectives of the Red para la PROmocion de la salud y el bienestar EMOcional de los adolescentes (PROEMO).

The researcher of the University of Jaén (UJA), Jesús Sánchez, the general director of Convivèxit, Aina Amengual, and the technician of Convivèxit, Catherine Adrover, met in person a few days ago to gather their perspectives from the educational point of view of the situation of health and emotional well-being of young people. The meeting was framed around the presentation of the results of the implementation of the PROCARE initiative in the Balearic Islands, carried out by the UJA professor Luis Joaquín García to the team of the Conselleria d’Educació i Universitats.

First, the representatives of Convivèxit proposed some recommendations for the design and development of a digital training package and a set of practical tools, aimed at educational staff, health personnel and youth workers, as well as for the preparation of an emotional support kit for adolescents. The objective of PROADEMO is to improve the skills of professionals and young people themselves to contribute to providing quality mental health services to adolescents at risk of developing emotional problems.

PROADEMO (PDC2022-133401-I00/AEI/10.13039/501100011033) is funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, the State Research Agency and the European Union, through the “Next Generation EU” funds within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

Next, both Aina Amengual and Catherine Adrover contributed their experience in Convivèxit in the analysis of the current situation of the health and emotional well-being of young people and the priorities to be taken into account, within the framework of the roadmap that the PROEMO Network intends to draw up. In this sense, they pointed out the lack of investment and more qualified personnel in the field of mental health as the most relevant problems; and they stressed the need for greater coordination at all levels to improve the provision of mental and emotional health services among students in educational centers.

PROEMO is a research network (RED2022-134247-T) funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation and the State Research Agency, through the State Program to promote scientific and technical research and its transfer, within the framework of the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2021-2023.

Both initiatives have an External Advisory Board made up of entities such as the Spanish Youth Institute (INJUVE), the Spanish Youth Council (CJE), the European Youth Information and Counselling Agency (ERYICA), the Princess of Girona Foundation (FPdGi), the Integral Health group of the FELGTBI+, the Confederación de Organizaciones de Psicopedagogía y Orientación de España (COPOE), the Asociación Española de Ayuda Mutua contra Fobia Social y Trastornos de Ansiedad (Amtaes), the Asociación Andaluza de Técnicos de Juventud (AATJ) and the Asociación Asturiana para la atención y el cuidado de la infancia (Asaci).
