Red interdisciplinar para la PROmoción de la salud y bienestar Emocional en las personas jóvenes

The Federación Estatal de Lesbianas, Gais, Trans, Bisexuales, Intersexuales y más (FELGTBI+) and the PROEMO Network meet to deepen the second phase of PROADEMO and gather the suggestions of the collective in the development of the roadmap for 2025.

The researcher of the University of Jaén (UJA) Manuel Vivas and the coordinator of the Integral Health group of the FELGTBI+, Toni Martí, shared the proposals of this entity, which is part of the External Advisory Council of these two initiatives for the promotion of health and emotional well-being of young people.

29/01/2024.- The Federación Estatal de Lesbianas, Gais, Trans, Bisexuales, Intersexuales y más (FELGTBI+) and the Red para la PROmocionAnDo de la salud y el bienestar EMOcional de los adolescentes (PROEMO) deepened in the second phase of the preparation of the materials of the project ‘PROmocionAnDo la salud y el bienestar EMOcional de los adolescentes en el sector educativo, sanitario y la sociedad’ (PROADEMO) and the PROEMO roadmap.

The researcher of the University of Jaén (UJA), Manuel Vivas, and the coordinator of the Integral Health group of the FELGTBI+, Toni Martí met online to learn about the proposals of this entity that represents the FELGTBI+ collective, as a member of the External Advisory Council of these two initiatives led by the UJA.

Toni Martí stressed “the importance of designing strategies that have an impact on empathy, diversity, transversality and interculturality” when talking about the digital training package and the set of practical tools, aimed at school staff, health personnel and youth workers, as well as for the preparation of the emotional support kit for adolescents. In turn, she pointed out “the relevance of including topics related to sexual health and emotional health including all perspectives”. Finally, regarding the type of format, he indicated the possibility of using elements such as comics or novels, together with videos such as those used in Tik Tok, always with an intelligible and useful language for the end user.

PROADEMO (PDC2022-133401-I00/AEI/10.13039/501100011033) is funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, the State Research Agency and the European Union, through the “Next Generation EU” funds within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. Its objective is to improve the skills of professionals and young people themselves to contribute to providing quality mental health services to adolescents at risk of developing emotional problems.

Regarding the shortcomings detected by the FELGTBI+ Integral Health group, Toni Martí highlighted the social barriers that exist when talking about issues such as mental health and sexuality. He also highlighted the role of social and economic inequalities when it comes to providing quality mental health services to users. Regarding the priorities to be taken into account, she emphasized specific situations such as the support needed by adolescents in difficult moments such as divorce or separation from their parents.

For its part, PROEMO is a research network (RED2022-134247-T) funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation and the State Research Agency, through the State Program to promote scientific-technical research and its transfer, within the framework of the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2021-2023.

The Integral Health group of FELGTBI+ is integrated in the External Advisory Council of PROADEMO and the PROEMO Network, together with entities such as the Spanish Youth Institute (INJUVE), attached to the Ministry of Children and Youth, the Spanish Youth Council, the Princess of Girona Foundation (FPdGi), the European Agency for Youth Information and Counselling (ERYICA), the Confederación de Organizaciones de Psicopedagogía y Orientación de España (COPOE), the Asociación Española de Ayuda Mutua contra Fobia Social y Trastornos de Ansiedad (AMTAES), the Asociación Andaluza de Técnicos de Juventud (AATJ) and the Asociación Asturiana para la atención y el cuidado de la infancia (Asaci).
