16/02/2024.- The Confederation of Organizations of Psychopedagogy and Guidance of Spain (COPOE) and the Network for the PROmotion of the health and EMOtional well-being of adolescents (PROEMO) met around the next phase of the preparation of the materials of the project ‘PROmocionAnDo the health and EMOtional well-being of adolescents in the educational sector, health and society’ (PROADEMO) and the PROEMO roadmap towards 2025.

The researcher of the University of Jaén (UJA), Manuel Vivas, and the president of COPOE, Ana Cobos, spoke telematically to incorporate the perspective of this group integrated in the External Advisory Council of these two projects, led by UJA.

Regarding the design and development of the digital training package and the set of practical tools, aimed at school personnel, health personnel and youth workers, as well as for the preparation of the emotional support kit for adolescents, Ana Cobos valued the importance of introducing emotional self-management, stress management for conflict resolution and self-control in these modules, emphasizing the importance of the emotional state of professionals in their work with adolescents.

Likewise, the president of COPOE emphasized the need for contextualized, long-term actions that make availability and proximity possible for counselors or professionals working with adolescents. As for the format, she recommended the audiovisual format, especially adapted for cell phones and putting didactic video tutorials on what to do in specific cases.

PROADEMO (PDC2022-133401-I00/AEI/10.13039/501100011033) is funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, the State Research Agency and the European Union, through the “Next Generation EU” funds within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. Its objective is to improve the skills of professionals and young people themselves to contribute to providing quality mental health services to adolescents at risk of developing emotional problems.

As for the shortcomings detected by COPOE with regard to the PROEMO roadmap, Ana Cobos stresses the “rigidity of the institutions, as well as the need to implement a methodology that combines research and action, so that professionals can accompany the adolescents during the process”. Along the same lines, among the priorities to be taken into account, she pointed out “the management of young people’s emotions and their vulnerability to screens through the development of materials to guide professionals on what to do in different situations”.

For its part, PROEMO is a research network (RED2022-134247-T) funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation and the State Research Agency, through the State Program to promote scientific-technical research and its transfer, within the framework of the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2021-2023.

The Confederación de Organizaciones de Psicopedagogía y Orientación de España (COPOE) is integrated in the External Advisory Council of PROADEMO and the PROEMO Network, together with entities such as the Instituto de la Juventud de España (INJUVE), attached to the Ministry of Youth and Childhood, the Consejo de la Juventud de España (CJE), the European Youth Information and Counselling Agency (ERYICA), the Princess of Girona Foundation (FPdGi), the FELGTBI+ Integral Health Group, the Spanish Association for Mutual Help against Social Phobia and Anxiety Disorders (AMTAES), the Andalusian Association of Youth Technicians (AATJ) and the Asturian Association for the Attention and Care of Children (Asaci).
